Results of the higher secondary certificate (HSC, standard XII) examination will be declared by the end of May and the secondary school certificate (SSC, standard X) results will be declared before June 15, the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education told TOI on Tuesday.
The results will be declared online and students will receive hard copies of the marksheets a week later. Even though marks of all subjects will be on the marksheet, the percentage mentioned will be calculated on the Best-5 basis for SSC students.
Chairman of the board Ujjwaladevi Patil said, "The process of compiling results from all centres is going on at present. The results will be first declared online and the exact dates for the same will be announced soon."
From last year, the state board has been declaring the results online, wherein students can access their marksheets on the board website by entering their seat number. A week later, the marksheets can be collected physically from the respective school or college. The move is intended to reduce delay in announcement of results and give time to students to decide their career paths.
This year the results are being announced in more or less the same time frame as every year. Last year, the HSC results were announced online on May 25, while the SSC result was announced on June 17.
Patil said, "Since junior college admissions will be conducted on the Best-5 basis, where the percentage of five subjects is calculated, the marksheets will also bear the aggregate percentage of five subjects to avoid any confusion. However, the marks of the sixth subject will be mentioned, so that students know how much they have scored."
Meanwhile, an officer in the state board said there will be no announcement of the names of aggregate toppers in the state or in each of the eight divisions - Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik and Latur. Last year, the established practice followed annually while declaring the HSC and SSC results was discarded. The decision not to declare the names of the toppers was taken to reduce the stress associated with board exams.
