Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn's much copied French pleat from the 1961 rom-com Breakfast at Tiffany's has been named the most influential style by hair dressers in a new poll.

The up-do is the most requested in salons, beating more modern looks such as Victoria Beckham's bob and Jennifer Aniston's cut The Rachel, which both made the top 10, reported Daily Mirror online.

The other vintage hair styles that made it to the list included Some Like It Hot actress Marilyn Monroe's trademark blonde curls, which were second, and model Twiggy's crop which bagged the third place.

Hepburn was earlier voted the most beautiful woman of all time in a poll held by TV channel QVC last year.

She again faced competition from Hollywood bombshell Marilyn Monroe, who came on third and Aniston at number ten.

Modern stars such as singer Cheryl Cole, who was second, Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson were also outdone by the My Fair Lady star.
