INTERVIEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR A MEDICAL SALES POSITION

Medical Sales and regular Sales Interviews are very similar, though not the same since Medical Sales is more specialized and the interview will have more specific questions depending on the area. The best thing to do is to prepare yourself for the upcoming questions and paying attention to details; if your area of expertise is Hospital Equipment, or maybe Laboratory is something to keep in mind.

Some basic interview questions for this position are:

Tell us about yourself.
Be very specific when asked this question. Show them what your background and experience are, how you enjoy your career and things you´ve learnt on the way, if you are in the right location for the job and if not let them know you are willing to re-locate.

To help you out you can do some research on the company, the products they sell and their vision, so you know how to direct the conversation in a more interesting way for the interviewer. A lot of what you answer will tell the interviewer if you are qualified for the position.

What are your weaknesses and strengths?
First of all: strengths; talk about all the skills you have and how you think they would fit the company needs and requirements. Talk about weaknesses in a positive way, perhaps talking about them as challenges you would love to overcome.

Do you hold a Bachelor of Science Degree?
If you don´t hold this degree at least prove that you took classes in Biology and Chemistry so you can support your work experience with educational background.

What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
A typical question; they just want to know what your intentions with the position are. If you intend to keep the job as a long-term job then let them know.

Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult or angry customer.
You need the right temperament for a sales position so here giving the right impression is mandatory. Talk about a difficult situation you went through, how you managed it and successfully fixed it.

How do you manage pressure?
A Medical Sales position requires a candidate that does not get frustrated by pressure so, once again, an example of a situation that involved pressure and how easily you got to manage it would do.

How do you build your market?
In order to answer this question some previous research about the company need to be done as well as a clear itinerary of things to do within the next 2 months from the moment you are hired.
